listened to michael all night yesterday. was just talking about my mom about how sad i was he’s gone but my GOD he had a magical mind. we’ll never see anyone like him ever again
i’m sniffling and bawling right now (on the inside). i think people know him as michael jackson the singer and dancer but they don’t really know that michael, as the entity, was crafted by his hands. there are entries he wrote where he stated he was going to be the King, before he even became it. he was heavily involved in all of his stuff and he was an artisan about everything. he was outdancing people who had been to school for dance. he was very purposeful about everything he did. the reason thriller got so big is because he felt as though he was wronged with off the wall, the album before thriller. he saw how well off the wall did, but he was not recognized at award shows or the things he wanted to be recognized at, and he knew he was ignored because he was Black, so he came back harder with thriller. he said he wanted to give them something that they could not possibly ignore. michael jackson worked and willed his way to stardom. he built his fame brick by brick. he heard songs in his head and sung and beatboxed them directly into a recorder for them to be recreated. he had a feat of a mind. “we’ll never see anyone like him ever again.”
